ISP Connectivity Ultimatum

It has been some days & weeks since I last wrote something here. Not that I have writer's block, it's just that my miserable job won't permit to do so. Lots of head banging ,lots of screaming & lots of diabolical thoughts. Things just couldn't get any more worse...exponentially. It was simply tragic. Salesman began to speak sympathy & motivation like singing a special tribute song in a funeral, such an amazing grace. I was looking for an escape, hoping someone could get me out from god forsaken workplace, then I saw this; "TMNET Streamyx Promotion Only RM77/month + Free Modem" advertisement in The Sun's paper.

In order to subscribe Internet Broadband, one must choose which Internet Service Provider (ISP) suite the needs. Unfortunately for this country, the options are somewhat futile. Some are expensive, some are slow & most will put you on a tight leash with their oblivious & incomprehensible Terms & Condition. People can't complain about because, that IS THE ONLY option they will have to accept whether you like it or not. Just like the local unscrupulous politician would say; "Kalau tak suka, KELUAR!" Then we would reply; "Apa boleh buat?", Streamyx is the only way to go for the moment.

TMNET, has the largest broadband subscribers in the country, mainly because, TMNET is the ONLY ISP available in the neighbourhood. Other ISP has very limited connectivity & only covered certain area in the country. If the ISP representative tells you that they are currently expanding their service and show you the map of Malaysia where are they going to cover, they are lying. If they claimed that you can surf anywhere, they are lying. If you do go to the outskirt of the city, you'll probably will get very vague signal connection or none at all. You're better off fishing in an empty pond.

If you are "choosing" TMNET Streamyx, you will need to install a fixed telephone line, which was frustrating. ISP representative you find in most supermarkets will not likely to send technician to fix the phone line. So, you will need to dial "100" first, which doesn't work on mobile phone. Which means that either you borrow your neigbour's phone (if they ever lend you to use it) or look up for a payphone (that is if you can actually find one that actually works). You need to dial the same number atleast 3 times after going through the automated voice operator until somebody pick up your call. Then you'll need to arrange the schedule when the technician would come for installation, but never turn up until you make 3 or more complaints to the customer service.

Seriously this is a huge contradiction between what is being advertise and everything else seemed to be an afterthought. Ambitious but rubbish maybe? But for sure they are very serious and they are in the cutting edge in cocking about.
